Law Enforcement Requests

Purpose of this page

This page explains how competent law-enforcement and other governmental authorities can submit a request to Voice XO, and how such requests are handled. It is written for authorities. If you are a member of the public, please use the in-app reporting tools or the contact details on our Contact page.

Voice XO cooperates with valid requests from competent authorities in accordance with applicable law. This page is informational; it does not create any obligation, waiver or right beyond what applicable law requires, and it is not legal advice.

Who operates Voice XO

Voice XO is operated by an Estonia-registered company. Requests are assessed under the law applicable to that company and to the data concerned, including European Union data-protection law. The full operator details, registered office and contact channels are shown below and on our Contact page.

Operator & Service Provider

Voice XO is operated and provided by the following registered legal entity, which is also the seller of record for all subscriptions and credit packs and the data controller for personal data processed in the app:

Who may submit a request

Requests must be submitted by an authorised official of a competent law-enforcement authority, public prosecutor, court or other governmental authority acting within its jurisdiction and powers.

Requests should be sent from an official domain or on official letterhead, and should identify the authorised official responsible for the request. We may take reasonable steps to verify the authenticity of a request and the identity of the requesting authority before responding.

We do not accept law-enforcement requests from private individuals, private investigators or other private parties through this channel.

How requests are assessed

Each request is assessed individually against applicable law and legal process, including data-protection law. A request does not automatically entitle an authority to receive information.

We may decline, narrow, or seek clarification of a request that is unclear, overly broad, not supported by valid legal process, or that we are not legally permitted to fulfil. Where a request must be made through mutual legal assistance or another prescribed channel, we will say so.

What a request should contain

To allow us to assess a request promptly, please include:

  • the name of the requesting authority and its jurisdiction;
  • the name, role and official contact details of the authorised official;
  • the legal basis and the legal process relied upon;
  • the account identifiers concerned, such as the registered email address or profile URL;
  • a precise description of the information requested;
  • the relevant date and time range, including the time zone;
  • an indication of urgency, and the reason for it;
  • whether a preservation request is made, where that is legally applicable.

Please limit the request to the information actually required. We ask authorities not to include unnecessary personal data about individuals who are not the subject of the request.

Voice XO does not operate a separate 24/7 emergency line. If a matter is urgent, please mark the request clearly as urgent in the subject line of your email; urgent requests are prioritised. Where there is an immediate risk to life, please also contact the competent emergency services in the relevant jurisdiction.

Data preservation

Where we receive a valid preservation request, we will consider preserving the account data available to us at that time, to the extent we are legally permitted and technically able to do so.

We do not preserve data indefinitely, and we cannot preserve data that no longer exists or was never collected. Our general retention practices, including deletion timelines, are described in the Privacy Policy.

Disclosure of information

We disclose information only where we are legally permitted or legally required to do so, and only to the extent necessary to respond to a valid request.

We do not confirm the existence of an account, or provide any information, merely because an authority has asked. Content data, where it exists, is subject to stricter requirements than basic account data.

Notifying affected members

Our policy is to notify a member about a request concerning their account where we are legally permitted to do so and where notification is appropriate. We will not notify a member where notification is prohibited by law or by a valid order, or where we believe notification would create a risk to a person's safety or to an investigation.
